In the 1990s, eight-year-old Agata leaves Poland for Belgium. Anxious about the journey, she begins writing a letter to her father back home, but when her pencil falls and disappears beneath the bus seats, she must overcome her shyness to retrieve it. Crawling between the passengers, Agata enters a fantastical world inhabited by strange figures who are half-human and half-animal. Through her young eyes, the uncertainty of migration becomes a magical journey of courage, discovery, and growing up.
