On a stormy night charged with mystery, a Palestinian-American grandmother and her granddaughter, Laila, come together as Laila’s hidden intentions gradually surface. Through the preparation of maqluba, readings of Turkish coffee grounds, and the resurfacing of painful memories, unspoken histories pass between them. Blending cultural traditions with a mystical atmosphere, Maqluba explores inherited trauma, displacement, and the complexities of life in the diaspora across two generations.
