Weekend Rebels

10-year-old autistic Jason's non-negotiable routines challenge his family. When suggested to transfer to a special needs school, his dad Mirco makes a deal: find a favorite soccer club together. Their journey to visit clubs reveals unexpected insights, bonding, and escapes from everyday life. Marc Rothemund

Marc Rothemund started as an assistant to notable directors such as Sigi Rothemund, Helmut Dietl, Bernd Eichinger, Dominik Graf, and Gérard Corbiau. His feature debut, "Love Scenes from Planet Earth" (1998), premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and won the Bavarian Film Award for best young director. He later directed the successful teen comedy "Ants in the Pants" (2000). Rothemund gained international recognition with "Sophie Scholl – The Final Days" (2005), earning him the Silver Bear for best director at the Berlin International Film Festival. His films, including "My Blind Date with Life" (2017) and "This Crazy Heart," have received both commercial and critical acclaim. "Weekend Rebels" is his latest film, set for domestic release in Fall 2023 through Leonine Studios.
