Title:Encountering Samir
Farah, four years old, and her brother Ramzy strike a friendship with an enemy counterpart, Samir, in a combat zone. They start playing together, and the formerly hard and desolate battlefield is transformed into a fanciful playground. Then, the piercing sound of a gunshot interrupts their game, pulling them to the real world, where they are caught in the crossfire. The new companions immediately discover that the only way out is through the power they hold within them.

Rand Beiruty
Rand Beiruty is a writer, director, producer and co-founder of Shaghab Films (a Jordanian production company), based between Amman and Berlin. She is currently pursuing a practice-based PHD from Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. She has pitched her projects on many international platforms and received awards from Tribeca Film Institute, Mifa Animation du Monde, Arab Cinema Center and European Network of Young Cinema among others. She’s in production of the short animated-documentary “Shadows” and her debut feature documentary was “Tell Them About Us”.
